In the realm of Dwarves, and the Academy of Gateways, our hero Himple, a final year student is about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime, to save his Axe Master's Daughter. Leaving behind his most unusual and ferocious pet, a Buganne, and a worried family. He teams up with his not so bright friend Barnaby and the accident prone Groundsman Podwick led by his teacher Grimtrunk who really dislikes him. Twelve gates with twelve destinations. Will it be Himple's gate that leads to the rescue? He does realise the adventure that's in store with Trolls ,Chupacabra and even a Dragon!
